Exciting news for all the tech enthusiasts out there. The highly anticipated Huawei P60 flagship smartphones are expected to launch globally on May 9. Along with the P60 series, Huawei is also releasing a host of other cutting-edge devices like the Huawei Mate X3, FreeBuds 5, Watch Ultimate, and MatePad 11.
The P60 series, which includes the P60, P60 Pro, and P60 Art, debuted in China on March 23. These smartphones boast impressive features, packed with new technology and unprecedented power.
Here’s an overview of what to expect from the series to get you ready for a new generation of Huawei flagships.
Display: See the World in a New Light
All three phones sport an immersive 6.67-inch display with an adaptive refresh rate that varies from a power-efficient 1Hz to a silky-smooth 120Hz. The convenience of an in-display optical fingerprint sensor adds an extra layer of security to the device. Additionally, the IP68-certified bodywork ensures protection against dust and water damage. Huawei's X-TRUE Display technology is incorporated into the entire series to enhance the visual experience and deliver accurate colour reproduction and true-to-life details even in challenging lighting conditions. For added durability, the P60 Pro and P60 Art models are designed with five-star drop-resistant Kunlun Glass, offering further protection against accidental drops, bumps, and scratches.
Capture Every Moment with the Latest Camera Technology
All three phones boast a powerful 48MP main shooter flanked by ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. The main camera delivers increased light sensitivity and OIS (optical image stabilisation) owing to an RYYB sensor boost. You also get an auto-adjustable physical aperture for professional snaps that ranges from F1.4 to F4.0. Enhancing the camera quality is Huawei's cutting-edge XMAGE technology and XD Fusion Pro system. With improved lighting in both day and night and an AI learning algorithm to restore lost details, you'll be able to capture every moment with stunning clarity.
The Pro and Art take things up a notch with an upgraded night vision telephoto camera, boasting a wider f/2.1 aperture for better zoomed shots in low light. Huawei claims the large aperture captures 178% more light when compared to the P50 Pro. It has up to 200x zoom range and anti-shake Sensor Rotation for blur-free images even when the subject is moving.
The Art model has the most advanced wide-angle 40MP camera to snap spectacular landscape, skyline, and group shots.
A 13MP selfie lens sits on the front of all three devices.
Power Up: Battery Performance of the Huawei P60 Series
Both the Huawei P60 and P60 Pro are equipped with 4815mAh lithium-polymer batteries. The P60 Art has a larger 5100mAh silicon-oxide battery, which boasts new technology to last longer than lithium-based alternatives. The P60 delivers 66W wired fast charging, and the Pro and Art versions take this to 88W. All three devices offer 50W wireless charging. Additionally, Huawei has integrated BatteryCare software to optimise the battery performance, ensuring users get the most out of each charge.
Smooth Operation & Massive Storage
The innovative 4G-only Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset powers the series. Boasting lightning-fast speeds and superior power efficiency, this powerhouse is a significant improvement over its predecessor. While rumours of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Huawei phone have been circulating, we've yet to see any confirmation of its existence. For now, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 remains the top-tier option for Huawei flagships.
In terms of storage, the P60 model packs a punch with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM. The Pro version offers an even wider range of options, with a choice between 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM or 12GB RAM and 512GB ROM. The Art version is an absolute beast, boasting 12GB RAM and a choice of either 512GB or 1TB ROM. With such incredible storage capabilities, users can effortlessly store and access their favourite media, files, and applications without worrying about running out of space.
Next-Gen Software Experience
The series operates on the latest HarmonyOS in China and offers seamless satellite connectivity via the Chinese Beidou satellite network. When it debuts on the global stage, it will run on EMUI 13.1, based on Android 13, but without Google services. It is also unlikely it will feature satellite connectivity.
