      Oppo A54s: Power Meets Affordability

      The Oppo A54s is an excellent mid-tier smartphone for those on a budget. There are many highlights to this iridescent and sleek 2021 model, so let’s get unpacking.


      A captivating display with comfort and convenience


      Oppo A54s sports a 6.52-inch IPS LCD with 720 x 1600 HD+ resolution and 480-nit brightness. It produces bright, sharp colours that are enhanced by ultra-thin bezels for a captivating viewing experience. Oppo has also placed importance on eye comfort with this new mid-tier range in the form of the AI Eye-Care Display. It ensures your eyes take less strain no matter how long you’re using the device for the ultimate comfort. The feature also automatically adjusts your screen’s brightness to your environment, which is incredibly convenient, especially in super bright or dull conditions.


      A camera that appreciates natural beauty 

       

      On the back, it has a triple-camera setup, featuring a 50MP main camera with 5x digital zoom, a 2MP depth camera, and a 2MP macro camera. On the front is a capable 8MP selfie snapper. Besides producing colourful and vibrant images, the camera capabilities also capture natural colours and beauty through the AI Beautification tool and Dazzling Mode. The former naturally enhances photos, while the latter allows you to snap images as you see them in their natural, bold or subdued hues. This is achieved thanks to a cutting-edge colour-mapping algorithm.

       

      Stay online for longer 


      This mid-tier handset is great at staying online thanks to its large 5000mAh, long-lasting battery. Oppo claims it can stream YouTube videos for over 20 hours on a single charge, and by switching it to Super Power Saving Mode, you can use WhatsApp for just over an hour with only 5% battery life. Another power-saving feature is the Super Nighttime Standby Mode, which reduces power consumption by 1.32%. For overnight charging, the Oppo A54s offers Optimized Night Charge and Charging Temperature Control features. These are safety protocols that control overnight charging and charging currents. Although wireless charging is not supported, it makes up for this with good battery life, clever battery saving modes and innovative safety features.


      Less lag with System Booster 


      On the software and hardware side of things, the handset comes with Android 11 out of the box with Oppo's ColorOS. It boasts 128GB of storage, 4GB RAM and is powered by the MediaTek Helio G35 chipset. These features are optimised by Oppo’s System Booster, which increases the phone's performance for faster downloads and processing, less lagging and longer battery life.

      Oppo Smartphones Have Landed in South Africa!

      Oppo smartphones launched in South Africa earlier this year and now you can find your Oppo on Mondo! You may be wondering - does the world need another smartphone designer in an already saturated market? If it’s innovation, style and amazing optics on a budget you’re after, then yes – we absolutely need what Oppo has on offer! Worldwide Sensation The brand’s popularity is growing fast worldwide. Oppo has 370 million smartphone users across 40 countries, which now includes South Africa. The Chinese brand was founded in 2004 and originally produced MP3 players and other audio products. In 2008, they switched gears and entered the smartphone game, and quickly became pioneers, releasing the world’s first rotating camera device. At home, the Chinese electronics manufacturer has surpassed its rivals, taking the position of leading smartphone manufacturer in the country, which is no easy feat considering that the market was previously dominated by rival Huawei.       Oppo Smartphones Arrive in South Africa!

      If you’ve ever watched international sporting events, you would have come across the name Oppo before. Now, South Africans will get a chance to know the brand much better as the smartphone manufacturer from China has decided to expand into Africa, with three new smartphones ready to enter the local market. Since their establishment in 2004, Oppo is now in 40 different countries and regions around the world. They’ve employed around 40,000 people and invested over $1.4 billion to create innovative smartphones. Presently, over 300 million people own an Oppo device and now they’ve decided to bring it to Mzansi. This is exactly what South Africans needed, especially considering the hold that Samsung, Apple and Huawei have had in the market. Oppo is the fifth-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world and the third largest in China. The company plans to launch three mid-range devices this year and flagship options in the first half of 2021. In a statement, Oppo said they were going to offer “the best blend of premium features, such as large main camera sensors; big, crisp displays; and long-lasting, fast-charging batteries, but at an affordable price”. Oppo A72 The initial three mid-tier devices from Oppo are the A15, A53S and the A72 . As with the Samsung Galaxy range, the higher the number, the higher the model on the smartphone tier. The Oppo A72 is at the high-end of those three models with a Snapdragon 665 chipset along with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It sports a 6.5-inch LCD screen and a whopping 5,000mAh battery that supports fast charging. That’s great value for a mid-tier device. In terms of the cameras, you can expect four cameras at the back, including a 48MP, 8MP and two 2MP sensors with a front-facing 16MP camera. Oppo A53S The A53S has a Snapdragon 460 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. You will get the same battery as the A72 but the display resolution decreases to 720x1600. The selfie camera is the same, but it houses three rear cameras - 13MP and two sets of 2MP lenses. Oppo A15 The lower mid-range option is the A15 which there isn’t much information about from the company. However, we do know that it has a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a 4,230mAh battery. Oppo hasn’t confirmed exactly when the devices will be available nor have they released the prices. Either way, competition is always great, especially for the consumer, and we welcome Oppo’s entrance into the South African market.
